Recycled Crayons

I'm sure you all have crayons around the house, and probably not just a few but A LOT of crayons. I have a container full and most of them are old or broken. I decided to try making NEW CRAYONS out of OLD CRAYONS.

I had the kids pull the paper off and break the crayons in half (sometimes thirds). We used an old muffin tin and separated the colors, one for each spot in the tin. Fill them clear full, the wax won't runeth over :)

(we could have filled ours fuller)

Next, put them in the oven at 300* (I played around with the temp. a little...if it is taking too long for the wax to melt, just raise the temp.)

Make sure to have some CUTE HELPERS :)

Once the crayons have melted and it is all liquid, remove them from the oven.

Let them cool about 30 minutes to an hour and you have brand new crayons that are fun to use!

Recycled Gift Wrap

We needed to wrap a gift for a birthday and I didn't have any cute paper. You know the brown paper that wrapping paper is sometimes rolled on to...we took that and wrapped the gift with it. I added tulle and ribbon that I had left over from other projects. The flowers on top are hair clips that we made to go with the gift. I thought it turned out super cute!

Let's See if I can Get this Going Again :)

Okay, so I have been slacking here. I wanted this blog to be fun and a place that I could put my thoughts and ideas down. If anyone read it great, if not no biggie. It started turning into a stressful "job" where if I didn't get something posted I "must be boring" and so "uncreative"...(these are my own thoughts, of course). I eventually just didn't post anything at all because I didn't have the time or the energy or the thoughts or the ideas.

I decided that I am going to start new and fresh. I finally changed my background from the Christmas one I had :) I am going to make it something fun again because I really do have stuff I want to share. (Does this sound like I am trying to convince myself?)... :)

So check back every now and then and you might be surprised to find something new on here :)
